Matthew Kato
Born and raised on the east side of Oahu in Kaneohe, Matt grew up surfing during family outings and has embraced various water activities, from bodyboarding to stand-up paddling. As one of the surf school’s founding members, he has taught for nearly 20 years. Known for his patience and positivity, Matt is especially loved by kids and is a dedicated supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping children experience the thrill of catching their first wave.
Outside the water, Matt is a drummer, having performed with Kings of Spade and opened for renowned bands like Bon Jovi. Today, he plays with the local punk band Superfuct and collaborates with musical friends at monthly performances. His expertise in reading the ocean ensures a safe and thrilling experience for all surfers.
