LAUREL BANDY
L began surfing at 7 after watching Barbie in A Mermaid Tale, inspired to connect with nature in a way she likens to flying. Hired as a surf camp counselor in 2016, she joined Ohana Surf Project full-time in 2022. “I love seeing people’s happiness when they stand up for the first time,” she says.
Outside of surfing, L enjoys free diving, snowboarding, and line dancing. She plays video games with her boyfriend and serves as a combat medic in the Army Reserves. Fluent in Spanish, L plans to start nursing school next year.
