Kainoa McGee
Kainoa has been teaching, coaching, and competing in surfing for over three decades. He holds the unique distinction of being the only surfer in the world to compete professionally in surfing, stand-up paddling, and bodyboarding. Known for his legendary drop knee and fearless surfing at the North Shore of Oahu’s infamous Pipeline—home to some of the most technically advanced and dangerous waves—Kainoa is recognized as one of the all-time great “watermen.” This prestigious title in Hawai’i honors his mastery and deep respect for the ocean.
Outside his role at Ohana Surf Project, Kainoa serves as a lifeguard for Hawaii’s renowned Ocean Safety & Lifeguard Services Division on Oahu. In addition to surfing, he coaches water polo, volunteers his time with various land-based sports, and is actively involved in youth mentoring programs, sharing his passion for ocean and community with the next generation.
