Pricing per person:

• Swimming requirement: NO, on private lessons we can take all abilities. We provide life jackets for any non-swimmers.

The private lesson offers more attention, more assistance, more flexibility … a great option for young children, non-swimmers, special needs, and those who have moved beyond the beginner surf lesson.

Your accomplished surfing instructor will focus on you – your talents, strengths and weaknesses, goals, and experience. This is the perfect lesson for those who would like to take their surfing to the next level. This level of instruction is designed for students who may be hesitant to try surfing or may require more assistance. We specialize in helping students of all shapes, sizes and abilities experience the love of surfing.

To improve affordability, we have created exclusive private group & family lesson options for friends or family that want to join the student during the lesson.

For children 2-6 we often require and/or strongly advise a Private Tandem Lesson.  A tandem lesson is where the child rides on the front of the instructor’s board to give more confidence and safety to the young children.

• Location: Ohana Surf Project’s Standard Surf Spot in Waikiki, in a much less crowded area than the rest of Waikiki. Travel may be optional for a fee but typically not recommended unless the student has a lot of experience, as our spot is best suited for all levels most days of the year.

Traveling with a friend, family member, or partner? If you’re looking for a more personalized surf lesson, our semi-private lessons offer the best of both worlds. With a ratio of just two students to one instructor, you’ll receive focused, hands-on coaching while enjoying the energy of a shared experience.

This lesson format is perfect for those who want more individualized attention than a group lesson but still enjoy the camaraderie of learning alongside their friend. Whether you’re a beginner or ready to take your skills to the next level, our experienced instructors will tailor the session to suit your goals, abilities, and comfort level.

Traveling in a group of 3 or more adults and/or teens? Our Exclusive Group lessons are for 3 or more people looking to surf together with their own instructor rather than share in a group lesson with others they may not know.

For the best possible experience, we recommend that all participants are a similar level of surfing experience. If someone in your group could benefit from a little extra focus, they can book a private lesson while the rest of the group rides the waves in a semi-private, exclusive, or open group lesson. It's all about creating the perfect balance of fun and learning for everyone!

And to help offset the expenses of bringing the whole family to Hawaii, we’ve created a family package that’s affordable, safe, and fun for everyone. The family lesson must include one parent and one child who is 12 years old and under (who can swim and paddle their own board), with the option to add additional family members. 

For families with children 13+ you have the option to book any and ALL of our other lesson types. Please check out our private, semi-private, exclusive group and open group lessons to see which ones suit your party best.

For those surfers that love what they do and are ready to do it at a higher level, Team Ohana’s professional lessons are the natural choice. We’re talking about advanced instruction in the art of surfing, stand-up paddling, or body boarding and delivered by accomplished teachers dedicated to maximizing your potential. Keep in mind that professional lessons are not just for professionals or competition surfers. The pro surfers of Ohana Surf Project will create a personalized instruction plan designed to enhance your skills, keep you safe in the water, and maximize your enjoyment of the sport you love. And, if you end up taking first prize in your next competition — well, that’s ok, too. Professional lessons are appropriate for all skill levels — particularly for intermediate and advanced surfers working to improve technique or those considering competitive participation.

Professional lessons include a 15-minute pre-lesson briefing and a 15-minute post-lesson debriefing.
